The oil refining chemical research institute which established in 1986 is a research unit of the fine wax plant and mainly takes on three functions including new products development, new technique application and production project optimizing.

    The Special Wax Laboratory was founded in 2000. By looking for market, investigating and scientific researching, assiduously tackling key problems the laboratory has created good economic results.

    In the last six years, many scientific research projects have been accomplished including 3 scientific research projects ,16 bureau projects ,more than 40 projects and more than 300 temporary research projects. In a result, one national patent and more than 60 prize for original technology research had been awarded. Currently, we have developed 38 of Special Waxes, among them 25 types and 15 kinds of product have been brought into market.

    Following are the outstanding research results in recent years:

     The Chewing Gum Base Special Wax has been sold as far as Europe and Southeast Asia. The export of this product is a convictive symbol that the microcrystalline wax has already accord with the quality standard of the upscale food grade wax. The history of only product ordinary microcrystalline have ended.

    Technical personnel surmount many difficult tudied to develop 6 new trademarks of the rubber protection wax series production which has become a little bit bright of economic growth.

     The Phase Change Energy storage Wax” is a kind of new environmental protection material, it can be used to the realm for a special purpose such as aviation aerospace dress, holding the clothing warm , preserving the house construct a constant temperature etc..

   During the last two years, we have produced 20, 25, 30 and 35 four trademark products one after another. The product filled up the domestic blank of this realm.

    Five trademarks of the series product of “Special Compound Wax for emulsifying Explosive”have been able to use for public blow up profession.These products achieved the science and technology progress second-class prize in Henan oil-field in 2002.

   The new wax products series including” The soft paraffin wax”,“ Waxe for Poultry process”,“ Precision Casting Wax”,“ Rubber Protective Wax”,“ Emulsifying Waxes for Timber Process”and“Wax Sizing Agent”have already headed for a market.

    In 2006, the oil refines chemical research institute has acquired great achievement again: "the N blend wax", "the Constructions Materials waterproof Special Wax", "Special Microcrystalline waxes for Power emulsifying Explosive" and "the Special waxes for the Explosive Packing Paper" and some new products have been developed successfully one after another. Among these, Soft Crystallite for Floor－proofing " and "strengthen Floor－Damp proofing Wax" was also exported to Southeast Asia; "The soft paraffin wax", " the Special waxes for slow-release compound fertilizer ", "the YQ series rubber protecting wax" and so on have become industrial.

    In addition，Chewing Gum Base Special Wax have passed the proof-test by Health Hall of Henan province. Hygienic License on Chewing Gum Base Special Wax from Health Hall of Henan province had been obtained. As we know, this is the first time the food grade petroleum paraffin wax products from SINOPEC acquire this attestation.
